8. Class Outline, Objectives | This class aims to deepen students' knowledge of the concept of a multicultural society and to foster the basic knowledge and competencies that are necessary as members of such a society. Students will learn about diversity in Japanese society and on college campuses in Japan through discussion and group work in a case method approach. This class will be conducted in real time online format. |
9. Class Schedule | This class will be conducted in real-time online format. The course will be conducted in a format combining LMS-based pre-learning (e.g., readings of reference materials), class activities (e.g., lectures and discussions among students), and post-learning (e.g., short reflection reports on the class). The ratio of prior learning, class activities and post-learning will vary from class to class; be sure to check the "Learning Instructions" posted on the LMS for the schedule and details of each class. 12. Out of Class Study | Readings will be uploaded to the LMS as necessary, so students should read them in preparation for class. After class, students are required to submit a total of five short reports to summarize what they have learned in class and to reflect on their learning. |
13. Notes on Enrolling | Attendance must be at least 80% to be eligible for evaluation. In other words, more than two absences will automatically result in a failing grade. |
